GOLF GAMES
Bingo-Bango-Bongo (Any number of players) (A great game to play when the players handicaps range is large. ) This game is also known as "First on, First in, Closest to the Pin", Bingo-Bango-Bongo is a much better name for a game though. All players tee off, then play progression continues with the furthest from the pin shooting first. The first player to put their ball on the green receives one (1) point. The next point (1) is won by the player that puts their ball on the green in a position that is closest to the pin. The last point is issued to the player who makes the first putt (1). Decide amongst your group how honors for the next hole will progress. Suggestion: the player that holes out first has honors. Yes, it is possible for one person to win all three (3) points. This would require the player with honors to make a hole-in-one on a par three, or a comparable field shot. Skins Game (Any number of players) A very simple game that generates intense excitement. The player with the lowest net score for the hole receives one (1) point. When two or more players have the same low score there is two options, decide on the option before the game begins. First, the point can be "carried over", this would make the next hole worth two (2) points. Another tie would mean the next hole is worth three (3) points, and so on until one player wins a hole. The other option is to deem the hole a tie "no carry over" and no points are awarded for the hole. Wolf (Foursome) Decide the player order before the first tee. On the first tee the player who shoots last is "The Wolf". After the first player completes their tee shot The Wolf can decide to take this player as a partner or to pass. If the player is passed The Wolf can no longer take that player as a partner and the next player tees off. If The Wolf passes on ALL the other players this signifies that The Wolf is "going alone" and is not taking a partner for this hole. One(1) point is awarded to the team with the lowest (single player) net score for the hole. If The Wolf "goes alone" and has the lowest net score for the hole they receive two(2) points. If a player scores lower than The "Lone" Wolf then all the players, except The Wolf receives two(2) points. When two players from opposing teams have the same low net score, the hole is considered a tie and no points are awarded. On the next tee player order is changed. The previous Wolf shoots first and the other players move back one position (the third player from the previous hole is now "The Wolf") Indian (practice game) I don't know why this game is called Indian, you can call it whatever you like, but it was introduced to me under this name. The game is played on the practice green and can have as many players as you like. Choose a spot on the green to putt from and all players start there. Points are awarded as follows: One point is awarded for a putt that is past the hole but less than one foot (12") from hole center. Two (2) points for being beside or past the whole but less than six (6") inches from center. If the putt is holed that player receives three (3) points. No points are awarded for a putt that is short of the hole. Continue the game by picking a new starting point. The Beast (Foursome) For purposes of explaining this game we will call the players 1,2,3 and 4. For holes 1-6 players 1 and 2 are partners against 3 and 4. The team that has the lowest (combined) net score receives one (1) point per player. If both teams have the same net score, the hole is a tie and no points are awarded. Play continues until the 7th tee. Here the teams change, (1 is now partnered with 3) and (2 with 4). Play continues with the new teams for holes 7-12. At the 13th tee partners change again, (1 with 4) and (2 with 3). After 18 holes are completed each person adds together the points that they received with their different partners, the person with the most points wins the game. Performance Points (Any number of players) The group I play with calls this game Quarters, but since this web site does not endorse gambling the name has been changed. Points are awarded to individuals as follows: 1 point: Tee shot in fairway 1 point: On green in regulation 1 point: Bogey 2 points: Par 3 points: Birdie 4 points: Eagle 10 points: Double eagle (if a player shoots a double eagle they should receive 10 points) Play continues and points are awarded until the round is complete. The player who has the most points wins the game. If a player does have a double eagle, the other players should split the lunch tab. Best Ball (Any number of players) Teams are chosen before play begins. The number of players per team can be two(2) or ten(10), two to four is preferable for pace of play reasons. All members of a team tee off, this is considered as one(1) stroke for the team. The team decides which ball is in the best position for their next shot and all the team members take their second shot from that point. This method continues until the hole is complete. One score for the hole is posted for the entire team. The team with the lowest score at the end of the round is the winner. This is also a good format if a seasoned player is playing with a beginner. The beginner may not get as frustrated and the pace of play will improve. SNAKES (a side game)
If you three putt, you hold the snake. If you are holding the snake and three putt again, you owe everyone a
"point". If someone else three putts, they steal the snake. At the end of each nine, whoever holds the snake
gives the others two "points". Whether the points have value-- well, i guess that's up to you!! :) (of course,
when someone has a 3 foot second putt, others in the group "must" make snake hissing sounds... grrrrr) can
also be done with other aspects of the game with same sort of rules: beep-beep... (you're snake bit!) |
