Look MOM, no hands! Many golfers imagine the putting stroke as a back and forth motion, keeping the putter head parallel with the ground. This method will work but creates many inconsistencies and prohibits a smooth even stroke. The putting stroke is better executed using the shoulders and chest. Standing straight turn your shoulders and chest together from left to right, keeping your head and legs motionless, do you fell where the pivot point is on your upper body? Now bend at the waist and put your hands in the position to hold your putter. Turn your shoulders and chest back and your hands should work like the bottom of a clock pendulum, now turn them forward to complete the stroke, letting your hands to be moved by your upper body turn. Like everything else that is new this will feel awkward at first. Practice putting some balls using this technique and you will become more comfortable with it. Best of all, your putting will improve. Play often, Play fair and above all, HAVE FUN!. I love this game! Duffy |
